FOREST ILLUMINATION
Burien Transit Center, Burien, WA 2009
Honoring the natural history of the site, Forest Illumination stands as a beacon for the center. The sculpture's glass panels mimic dappled light filtering through foliage, translating the interplay of forest sunbeams and deep shadows into structural form. The design is inspired by Burien's historic Three Tree Point tower—a viewing platform famously constructed around a lone, massive fir tree. This custom artwork serves as an architectural monument to the ancient landscape that once stood here.
